Windows 10 – Should I Upgrade or Not?

As a technician I get asked this very question several times a day. My advice for people with this question is below…

If you are using Windows 7 and are happy and comfortable with it, then leave it alone and don’t upgrade. Windows 7 will be a useful operating system for years to come. End of support for Windows 7 is January 14, 2020.
If you wanted to upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10, simply for something to do or out of curiosity or simply because you might want the latest operating system, then do this ONLY if you have several hours or days to get comfortable with the new operating system.
If you are happy with something, why turn your life upside down??? Especially if you may be in the middle of some type of computer project.
If on the other hand you were using Windows 8 or Windows 8.1, I would say “Upgrade to Windows 10” because no one liked Windows 8 as it is hard to use and very different.
